This was a particularly fun engagement pictures session because I know these two so well! I knew them as kids, then as teens, did both they senior pictures, watched a young romance grow and now these super special engagement photos! The first sets we chose to do were in dressier clothes and in a pretty green setting with lots of trees. Yes, that’s unusual in North Dakota, especially in the Hazen area where there is a lot of farming. But there are a few secret gems of places that give us that forested look. The challenge? The mosquitos and ticks! We got this portion done quickly, laughed as we did a tick check when we got back to the cars and moved on. But it was so well worth it – these are probably my favorites of the evening! I love the greens and the little bits of red thrown in for contrast. I really do love color! Their North Dakota country wedding is going to use some of these same colors and its going to be gorgeous! Definitely stay tuned to see those come summer!
The next spot was their idea, close to Dakota’s family’s new country home with the rolling fields and dirt roads in the backgrounds. I think Dakota’s favorites come from this bunch. I love how easy these two are with each other. It was so easy to get a variety of looks from fun and laughing to intimate and romantic. I can’t decide which I like best as each time I look I find a new favorite. A quick change of clothes to more casual jeans but that hint of red in Dakota’s shoes made the perfect ending. Love how that little bit of red carried through, making an overall cohesive look – I am imagining how a wedding guest book will look, showing off this great young couple! Winter has just begun, and I can hardly wait for summer wedding season!
