Engaged during Quarantine? One Tip and One Wish

As with everything right now, I’m sure getting engaged during the Covid-19 quarantine wan’t exactly how you imagined it! You might not be enjoying a romantic dinner at your favorite restaurant, or toasting with friends and family at a backyard bbq, but you do deserve to celebrate! One thing is for sure: you will have a unique love story to share through the generations!

“During these uncertain times” (so the overused statement goes), I am actually so happy to see couples moving forward to the next stages of their lives! We may not go back to what we thought of as “normal”, so striking out confidently into the future is awesome! Love doesn’t have to wait and neither does marriage!

A small but important tip:

Start thinking about your timeline. Really, you can get married whenever you please – summer, winter, right away, next year or three years from now. It’s up to you! If you are considering a date within the next year or so, you most definitely want to start making plans right away. Most vendors book out a year in advance; I’m sure you already know that. Insert Covid-19, and now many of this year’s couples had to postpone and reschedule their weddings. Venues, caterers, florists, decorators, photographers etc. are booking further in advance than ever before and giving preferred dates to their couples that had to postpone. Ask if they have waitlists or cancellation lists, take tentative bookings, schedule back-up dates, and what their deposit policies are.

If your favorite isn’t available, ask for recommendations. I’m sure they will be as accommodating as possible with reasonable requests while you work through this process. I also kindly ask that you are patient with your vendor communications right now. They are feverishly working with couples to reschedule and accommodate all their 2020 dates!

My wish for you…

My biggest wish for those of you newly engaged, is that you enjoy this season! It’s okay to be happy and excited, even in the midst of the Covid craziness. Be hopeful for the future even though it feels uncertain. Booking your venue and vendors will most likely be the trickiest part of coordinating after getting engaged during the pandemic. Once you have that figured out, enjoy all the fun stuff! Get inspired, browse the magazines, fill your Pinterest boards, chat with your friends, dream and even shop! Schedule engagement pictures. Even if you’re not the type to fill your social feed with mushy lovey dovey pictures, it will be fun to have them just for yourselves – and it gives you a chance to start feeling comfortable in front of the camera. But the main point here is to enjoy this season of engagement!

My friends at Found Events put together a very thoughtful POST with a lot of information regarding wedding and event planning. Though recommendations are fluid right now, this is a great resource to get you started.

If there is anything I can do to help with your planning, even if its the simplest of questions, please reach out!
