This summer was a strange one, as far as weather goes. It never really got super hot and it rained a lot! So our eyes were on the ever changing forecast for the two weeks leading up to Layne and Cody’s wedding. And it kept changing – shocker! We set up our plan B, should it rain and planned out our entire day’s timeline with a couple of versions depending on how the weather actually shaped up. As it turned out, we had the very best day of summer! It was sunny but not hot, not windy and the entire day went off without a hitch! Perfection! Good things for good people and Layne and Cody are the best!
I loved our spot on the Bismarck State Capitol grounds! It’s not the usual place you find wedding parties so we had it all to ourselves, with the best of several looks all within a few steps – the buildings both up close and in the background, trees, grass and foliage and a cute winding path.
But enough about the weather and grounds. The real story of the day was obviously Layne and Cody! What an adorable young couple they are and so obviously in love and so obviously excited about this day! Cody’s hands were visibly shaking as he waited for his bride and his first look at her in her gown. The laughing and hugging and tears were so heartfelt, it made me a little teary as well. And I don’t think he stopped smiling the entire day, especially when he was looking at Layne…. and she was shining as well! As far as brides go, Layne had it all…the gown, the girls, the SMILE that never stopped and an adoring groom!
Those smiles, those laughs! And it translated across to all who were there, from their (super fun!) wedding party to their family and all those who came to celebrate. It was pretty incredible. Stay tuned for a future post with those fun and funny moments….I love to share the romance and love first….but the fun and funny are also a real part of the day…and Layne and Cody had an abundance of those moments, for sure!
Layne and Cody, I loved spending this time with you both! Your day was a dream and it was such a privilege to be the one there to capture it!!
