With the bright joyful sunshine, it was a perfect day for a summer wedding at the lake! Lake Sakakawea makes a lovely and romantic backdrop for a wedding, and Kimberly and Jesse really did have the most beautiful day from start to finish! Getting married in their hometown, these two high school sweethearts returned to Hazen to marry, grow careers and make a life together! I, for one, am thrilled to have them home!
After hair and makeup, Kimberly and girls got into their gowns and made their final touches at the studio. A toast with some pink champagne concluded the “getting ready” portion of the day. Then it was time for the emotional first looks at Hazen’s cute little pocket park. Kim and Jesse were full of smiles and laughs, while it was tearful hugs between Kimberly and her dad. Behind the scenes, the moms were peeking around the corner and through the branches for sneaky first looks of their own. 😃😃
When we say bright sunny days, we really mean hot, right?! Yes, it was hot but the bride and groom and the fun wedding party were awesome! The large ceremony shelter at the lake provided cool shade and plenty of water and Gatorade was packed into coolers. The only thing we couldn’t seem to combat were the pesky teeny tiny little lake bugs that just loved the guys’ white shirts! We couldn’t help but laugh, as they continually brushed them away!
There were quite a few happy tears as Kimberly walked down the aisle with both her mom and dad! With the blue sky and lake as their backdrop, framed by the beautiful arbor created by Found Events, the ceremony and exchange of vows was nothing less than stunning! As a photographer, the location presented some unique challenges. What is stunning to the eye, is confusing to a camera, so I am thankful I had the chance to spend some time up at the lake doing some practice shots and preparing in advance.
After the summer wedding ceremony at the lake, it was back to Hazen to celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs., eat a delicious dinner, applaud the toasts and speeches then finally dance the night away. As usual, Found Events transformed city hall into an elegant reception space in shades of gold, roses and ivories. Sound Engagement added some final touches with fun lighting in addition to music! A day for all to remember and cherish!
