What a special Hazen Wedding! All in all, it took two years for all the pieces to fall into place. Worth the Wait to Celebrate was the perfect slogan for Madi and Rory’s day! So, you’ll see two years of photos here! I think all of their little home town was celebrating with them. Hugs, smiles and happy tears filled the day.
Madi and Rory joyfully chose June 6, 2020 as their wedding day. Literal life long friends, then high school sweethearts, it wasn’t a huge surprise when they announced their engagement. Friends and family were thrilled with the announcement of their summer wedding and couldn’t wait to share in their union.
Covid Postponement
Then Covid. Like countless couples, Madi and Rory struggled with what to do. Feeling an abundance of caution and concern, they decided to postpone the date of their celebration until August and sadly sent out announcement of the change of date.
But they knew they were ready to be married, so they kept their June date as their official marriage ceremony. With immediate family and a handful of friends, Madi and Rory became husband and wife in a touching and very personal ceremony. A surprise “Honk and Wave” parade followed, as well wishers drove by the church entrance. Before the ceremony, we were able to capture emotional Father/Daughter first look and Rory’s first look at his bride! They celebrated with a hysterically fun champagne toast, that I now know was Rory’s practice run at popping a champagne cork. 😀😂😀
Covid really did throw everything for a loop, however. Again, feeling such concern for everybody’s health, and wanting to include all the people special to them, Madi and Rory once again postponed their celebration. May 7, 2022 became the new official date, and it was perfection!
Celebration!
At the church, Madi and Rory re-affirmed their vows and received blessings. There was something extra special as Father shared their story of patience, commitment, and hope. The ceremony was inspirational, and I truly believe there was not a dry eye as they shared a second “first kiss”.
After a second champagne toast on Main Street (Rory did a better job at opening the bottle this time), the long awaited celebration took place at the Hazen All-Season’s Arena. Dodie and crew at Found Events once again created magi and completely transformed a hockey arena into a gorgeous glowing party space, complete with a lounge, nacho bar, desert station and a stunning head table with an overhead garland! Incredible! Twinkle lights criss crossed the full length of the ceiling and created the perfect ambiance. Friends and family toasted the bride and groom with funny and sweet stories, while all laughed and cried and held their glasses high. Dancing topped of the celebration and lasted long into the night, as we all finally celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Olson at this most special of Hazen weddings!
